Here we go...

I’ve been meaning to start a blog for some time now. It' keeps me busy and really get’s me thinking. However, having the time is the biggest challenge! I have my own family which includes 2 boys, so there’s most of the time gone straight away and with my ever growing list of hobbies (my wife calls them) finding that time is hard!

But, it’s a Tuesday afternoon, the sun has gone away so I thought, let’s start now!

This blog is going to be straight forward, talking about some of the best wedding venue’s I’ve visited over the last 12 months. I always say, the venue is the most important part of your wedding day. You give yourself a fighting start with everything once you get the venue right.

It’s easy to see a nice wedding venue in a fantastic rural countryside location but it’s not all about bricks and mortar. The staff need to play a part too and also the wedding coordinator. I’ve met some amazing wedding coordinators that really look after the bride and groom and even myself and other wedding suppliers!

Here is just a few of those fantastic venues

Leigh Court Hotel

This stunning venue is located on the outskirts of Bristol in Abbots Leigh. Leigh Court is one of the most prestigious venue’s in the South West and a dream for Bristol photographers and other suppliers in the South West. Claire, the events coordinator was a great help during the day to ensure everything ran as smoothly as possible! I would recommend this venue to anyone looking for a grand building with huge grounds and plenty of nature!

Tythe Barn

For the past 10 years or so, barn style weddings have been ‘on-trend’. In the South West there are plenty to choose from, Priston Mill, Folly Farm and my favourite - Tythe Barn. This stunning venue captures everything you want from a wedding venue. I’ve been here as a guest and as a photographer and loved the occasion every time! The grounds are fantastic and whether you have an indoor ceremony during the cooler months or an outdoor ceremony in the sun. You will not be disappointed.

Avon Gorge Hotel

Now for something a little modern! The Avon Gorge claims to have some of the best sights over Bristol from their rooftop terrace. I can’t disagree! I visited Avon Gorge Hotel in July 2021. The sun was blazing down - every photographers nightmare - but that didn’t stop a fantastic day and night! It’s hard to find a venue where you have stunning views in the middle of the city, but enough privacy to enjoy t he day with your partner and guests but Avon Gorge Hotel have that down to a tee! 10/10
